Wanted to float a new idea by you all.
I want admins to be more interactive with new players so I've been trying to think up a way to encourage admins to talk to new players. I've thought up an idea and want to run it by everyone and get their opinion.
Basically I'm thinking of making it a requirement to get new player references to increase your rank. How it would work is to move up in rank you would need to get a new player to register on the site/account manager. As you progress up the ranks, you would need more and more references to make it to the next level. Each level requires a certain count of new registrations.
So this is how it would break down:
RX : 1 Registration
B : 2 Registrations
G : 4 Registrations
A : 6 Registrations
UA : 10 Registrations
XA : 16 Registrations
V : 1000000000000000.0 Registrations
When a player registers they select who referenced them from a dropdown list.

Well Vir's Pub is slowly getting back into shape. I decided it's time for me to create a to-do list of things that need to be fixed to bring us back to where we were before the crash. If I have missed anything please let me know.
Website Items
- Get Psychostats working - This is in progress now. 2012 has been completed up until 04/09/2012 but is not yet automatically updating. 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 and 2007 ETA - 2-4 Weeks to Recompile 5 years of logs
- Get the chat logs download working
- Get the server demo downloading working
- Get the music uploader working.
- Get the map uploader working
- Fix users not being able to access to the lowest levels of admin (R, RX and B)
Server Items
- Enable mines
- Get purchasable items working again
- Get backups to work automatically instead of manually.
I will be slowly completing the items on this list. Once completed we should be right back where we were before the crash happened.

VirsPub - Back In Business!

If you haven’t been around Vir's Pub for awhile you won't be aware that we had a fairly major crash with extensive loss off data. I was able to recover more than I expected but what we lost hurt the server pretty badly. Our traffic crashed - and because of the lack of time I was not able to rebuild and re-write what was lost.
Fast forward to now – I’ve been working the past two weeks to get things going and I am now starting to see the seed I planted grow and I feel we are at a point where I want to tell the world the Vir’s Pub is back in business. Our server is slowly becoming populated again and the forums starting to become active. So if you still play Counter-Strike or want to get back into it then please join our server or visit our website and start participating in the Virs Pub community.

PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATORS
If you were once an administrator and were registered on our account management system I have automatically credited all RX accounts with 30 free days of RX access and credited all B, G, A, UA and XA accounts with 120 days of admin. This is to make up for any lost time due to the server problems. If you lost more than 120 days please let me know and we will work out proper compensation for the lost time. Any credits you left in your account should still be there.

The server has been installed and running since midnight last night.
We are currently still working on ironing things so it will not be 100%
for another week or so.

Server Shutting Down if Donation Goal Not Reached

I've been covering our shortfall the past few months because our traffic was so low and I didn't have much time to fix it. However now there is no excuse. Server is busy and I've been making fixes and adding features. So for every dollar we are short at the end of this month, I'll shut the server off for an hour. So if we are short $70 we get shutdwon for 70 hours.
I hate to make threats but common now - you all can't keep playing on my dime here! Those who have already donated - I appreciate it! The rest - please donate!
I also just purchased 8GB of RAM for our webserver/database server. We need to cover those costs as well. Extra RAM should help with the spawn lag once installed.

Looking for new Redirectors

- I'd like to install a program to allow me remote access to the machine for testing purposes (will be uninstalled when testing is complete)
- You must have a router that you have access to change some settings - or you must have uPnP enabled if you do not have access to the router
- Wired connections vs. Wireless connections are preferred
- System can use up to 5GB of bandwidth a month so make sure your ISP doesn't have extremely low bandwidth caps.
- A decent router that doesn't lock up on you every few days
- An account on this website
- No DialUp!
- We extremely interested in people in who live in (ordered by importance) Southern States (Florida, Texas, etc), Central North America, Western North America, Central + South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia . These are areas I'd like to expand our user base into as most of our players are from Ontario and surrounding areas. With more people from more areas we should have more time zones and thus more players during a broader time period. If you are in on of these special areas let me know and I'll give you a bit extra incentive to sign up.
