Ok we havn't had much in the ways of a competition lately so I figure we ought to setup one.  Vanna and I were talking it over and up came the idea of having a Vir's Pub video.

So what would this video be about?  Well it would be about the one thing that Vir's players are really good at... Knifing!!!

So here is how it works and here are the rules.  First off we will be looking for really GOOD knife stabs.  Stuff that makes people say OMFG!  Want some examples?

Mid air stabs.  Multiple Stabbings.  People with big guns completely missing you and getting stabbed by you after they run out of bullets.  Awsome head stabs.  Some 1 vs 1 knife examples and anything else that is cool and better than a typical knife.

However there are some thing we do not want.  First off knives in knife maps don't count.  We want custom/original maps only.  Second, it HAS to be done on the Vir's Pub.  No knife server kills!

So, do you have to record a demo evey game?   Nope!  This is where HLTV comes in handy.  Just record the date and time of the knife with a description, post it in the forums and we'll do the rest!  Please ensure PROPER times.  We will not be watching an entire map demo for a 5 second knife of ONE person.  So again, give us the date and time and a brief description and we will check it out.

Finally the judges will be all the XA's!  We will also be the ones to edit it and post the video with a song we choose.  People who get into the video...  they will not get admin this time around, instead I'm hoping to maybe have a custom knife model for you guys =).

Also if you really want to record your own demo that actually would be handy as it captures the voices of people as well which may come in useful.

Website Mail System Down

Hey guys,

The website mail system has been down for a little while and we haven't found out exacly what is causing out problem. For the time being, all new users must e-mail either Virellek or Unknown to get their accounts activated. Click here to go the admin section of the website to see their contact e-mails.

State of the Server

OK I think I've half written this message 3 times now only to forget to post it and lose it because I've been so busy and distracted (in things far more interesting...  =).  So lets try again and hopefully this time it will end up on the front page.

-----------FPS Bypass Bans------------

I am going to start with the people who have been banned for bypassing the FPS restrictions on the server since this is probably the oldest situation I have not yet dealt with.  First I want to address the excuses I am hearing because they are so lame they need to be addressed.  I put the FPS lock and parachute FPS restriction in over 2 months ago.  Most people with a half a brain should have realized at this point that the restrictions were put in place to fix a glitch on the server in regards to engine timings.

But it seems a few somehow thought it would be OK and honest to write a script to bypass a server restriction.  How they think this would be OK I am not sure.  Somewhere in their twisted logic I am sure they think its perfectly fine.  Well it wasn't then and it isn't now.  I posted numerous messages in the forum saying I have a problem with scripts bypassing the FPS lock.  I think that's fairly self explanatory for anyone not trying to twist my words into meaning something else.  Script, Bypass, FPS are keywords and those three together are fairly clear.  Any script which bypasses fps is not liked.  If any of you had any confusion you should have asked.  Instead you decided to bypass the FPS (I'm mostly upset about the developer 1 option) and try to get away with it by saying you didn't understand what I said when I was VERY clear scripts bypassing FPS restrictions were frowned upon.

Next there was some crying over the fact I didn't post a front page message.  I didn't post a front page message because I figured most people had a big enough brain to realize that if the server is trying to restrict it, it's probably not a good idea to try to break that restriction.  Or is that too hard to understand?

OK, that all being said... what are we going to do with you guys?  We decided anyone who was banned for bypassing the FPS restriction will be allowed back after 30 days.  I will not be counting the days - it will be up to the players to post a message after 30 days to let me know it's been 30 days.  At that point I will want the ban screenshot posted to verify it's been 30 days and we will un-ban.   However anyone who was caught and had admin we will not be getting back admin.  As an admin your supposed to enforce the rules not break them.

I just think we ought to let people know Promagstyle was banned for wall-hacking.  If you see him online under a different name and steam-id let us know.  He was clearly caught and when confronted he did confirm that fact.  We appreciate that he admitted to it but cheating is cheating and he will not be allowed back.  Obviously his admin is gone and won't be back.  I think since he was a regular everyone needs to know that even if your a regular your NOT allowed to cheat.

We are VERY disappointed in him that he would do that and then say it's OK because it was only a game.  Yes it is just a game, but a game with REAL people.  This isn't single player, what you do affects other people.  He needs to learn that as do other people on our server.  We put our trust in him - I personally even gave him a chance after he lost his admin.  He knew we were against hacking yet he lied to us and hid the truth.  This is not what friends do - this was simply a stab in the back and there is no other way to look at this.

That being said - all new admins will not be randomly tested to ensure they are no longer cheating.  We have lost one admin to wall-hacking and another one to bypassing server settings.  We have too many admins causing problems.  This makes all the admins look bad and erodes trust in our server.

-----------Admins Overusing Commands------------

Oh next we have been receiving a LARGE amount of complaints about admin abuse.  It really has surged.  To all the admins out there of all levels - myself included - lets cut back on the commands.  No more god-mode/spectator/vip please!  I know I'm guilty and I apologize.  So lets all cut back on the commands myself included.

There seems to be some confusion as to admin levels.  I keep seeing G admins do things when other higher admins are on.  I need to say this should NOT happen.  When a higher ranked admin is on do not use any admin commands against another player, do not confront a player you suspect of cheating, do not blurt out 'cheater' on chat/voice, just act as a regular player unless you pass it by the higher admin first.  If you have a problem with a player talk to your superior.  Don't take action yourself!

Higher ranked admins are higher than you because they have the experienced judgement to make the right decision that YOU do not yet have.  I keep trying to watch people I suspect of cheating only to have G admin start yelling at the guy calling him a hacker on voice-com.  That's the best way to make them turn off their hacks so I cannot see them!  Keep your mouth shut unless your the only admin on or the one with the highest rank.

----------Arguing with admins-------------

It seems a lot of players are getting into discussions in the forum when they have nothing to do with it.  From now on only the people who are involved in a ban should post a message in reply to the un-ban request.  I don't care if your the persons mom - I only want to hear from people who are directly affected by the ban.  This means the person who banned them, the person who was banned, anyone who has IMPORTANT and RELEVANT information to add and the XA or UA who's deciding on the un-ban.  I will make the best decisions I can I don't need clan-mates yelling at me.

Anyone who doesn't follow this rule will be banned from the forums.

----------Sexism on the server------------

Finally I will be adding a new rule to the server.  It seems that people seem to think it is OK to harass girls and say immature, disgusting and sexist comments because this is a male dominated game.  Well quite frankly I'm sick of people harassing girls who join our server including Vanna so tonight I will be adding No Sexism to the list of rules.  Sexist comments will be treated the same as racism - that includes sexist jokes.
